Woman shot dead in Brooklyn home, person of interest in custody

A woman was shot to death in her Brooklyn home early Sunday morning, police said.

At around 2:58 a.m. on May 7, cops responded to a 911 call of a person shot inside 230 East 96th Street, near Clarkson Avenue, in the 67th Precinct. Upon arrival, police found the victim, a 49-year-old woman, with gunshot wounds to her head, torso and leg.

Paramedics rushed the woman to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

A 48-year-old male person of interest was taken into custody on scene, cops said.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the womanโ€™s identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Less than 24 hours earlier, not far from Sundayโ€™s scene, two men โ€” ages 23 and 24 โ€” were shot in the chest outside 276 Belmont Avenue, near Sutter Avenue in East New York at around 4:30 a.m. on May 6.

Both victims were taken to Brookdale, where the 23-year-old was listed in critical condition as of Sunday night. The 24-year-old is currently stable, cops said.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, cops said.
