There was nothing slow about the Myrtle Turtles of Ladder Company 135 on Sunday afternoon.
Units responded to a two-story private home at 74-02 66th Dr. near the northeast corner of All Faiths Cemetery at around 2:30 p.m. on June 11 and found fire and heavy smoke conditions on the second floor.
The FDNY dispatched 65 firefighters from 12 units that deployed two hose lines to knock down the main body of the blaze in less than a half hour. Searches throughout the building yielded negative results and the fire was placed under control at 3 p.m., according to the FDNY.
The cause is under investigation by the FDNY’s fire marshals office.
