A man was fatally stabbed inside of a Queens Village deli on Saturday morning, and police from the 105th Precinct have a suspect in custody, with charges pending, according to authorities.

Police responded to a 911 call regarding a stabbing inside of 7 Star Jamaica Deli Corp., located at 214-57 Jamaica Ave., at approximately 5:24 a.m. on May 6. Upon their arrival, officers found a 41-year-old man with a stab wound to his leg.

EMS arrived at the scene and transported the victim to NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victimโ€™s identity is being withheld pending proper family notification.

A police spokesperson told QNS that there was a dispute between the store clerk and the victim before the stabbing. The victim allegedly threw a bag of peanuts at the clerk, who came out from behind the counter and engaged in a physical confrontation with the victim, according to law enforcement sources.

Once the fighting began, a 68-year-old man entered the premises and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene, according to a police spokesperson.

He was apprehended at a nearby building at 214-53 Jamaica Ave., the police spokesperson said.

Charges are pending, but the spokesperson could not confirm what the charges would be at the time of publication.
