Police from the 104th Precinct responded to the scene of a vehicle collision with an MTA bus in Middle Village that left nine passengers injured last week.Â
Police say an eastbound Q54 bus was traveling toward Jamaica Avenue on Tuesday, Aug. 22, and was stopped in traffic at approximately 10:40 p.m., when an unknown vehicle driving in front suddenly reversed to avoid a garbage truck. According to the MTA, it was a pickup truck driver who backed into the right-side front bumper of the Q54 bus as the bus was standing in traffic.Â
The truck driver then fled the scene in their vehicle, officials said. The bus operator was not injured in the accident, but nine passengers were sent to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
A police spokesperson said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
