A 59-year-old woman died in a box fire inside of a Dickens Street home in Far Rockaway Saturday, July 22, according to authorities.

A 59-year-old woman died in a box fire inside of a Dickens Street home in Far Rockaway Saturday evening, according to authorities.

First responders received a call regarding a residential fire at 10-46 Dickens St. at approximately 7:30 p.m. on July 22.

According to the FDNY, the fire was on the top floor of the three-story residence. FDNY sent 12 units consisting of 60 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

A woman was recovered from inside the home and transported to St. Johnโ€™s Episcopal Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, according to authorities. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The โ€œall handsโ€ fire was under control by 8:24 p.m., according to the FDNY.

The FDNYโ€™s fire marshal is working to investigate the cause of the fire.
