A woman who was walking along the Cross Island Expressway was struck and killed by the driver of a Cadillac SUV, according to authorities.

A woman was struck and killed on the Cross Island Parkway in Rosedale early Monday morning after she was walking on the highway, according to an NYPD spokeswoman.
Police from the 105th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck just after 5 a.m. on Aug. 14 near Exit 26 near 115th Avenue and Dutch Broadway. Officers found the woman lying on the roadway with severe trauma to her body. EMS responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad determined the woman was walking along the northbound Cross Island Parkway when she was struck by a 42-year-old man driving a black Cadillac SUV just north of the Southern State Parkway. The motorist stayed at the scene of the collision and there is no criminality suspected, according to the NYPD spokeswoman.
The victim’s identity is pending family notification and there are no arrests.
The investigation by the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
