STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two Staten Island police officers were injured by a man causing a disturbance in a Staten Island supermarket Tuesday night.
The officers responded to a call about the disturbance by an individual at the Key Food, located at 244 Arden Ave., in Arden Heights, a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information said.
One of the responding officers was bitten on the leg and another was punched in the face, police said. Both were transported in stable condition to Staten Island University Hospital in Prince’s Bay.
A store manager told an Advance/SILive.com reporter that the individual got into an argument with another customer before throwing a handful of change at her.
The individual was taken into custody, police said.
This is a developing story and more information will be posted when it becomes available.
