113th Travis Fourth of July Parade set for Tuesday: Ceremony, start time, street closures

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Hundreds of Staten Islanders are expected to line the streets of Travis on Tuesday to celebrate the nation during one of the borough’s most time-honored traditions.

The 113th annual Travis Fourth of July Parade is set for Tuesday, July 4, according to the parade’s website.

The longstanding annual event will kick off with a ceremony at Independence Park, on the corner of Victory Boulevard and Glen Street, at 12 p.m.

The ceremony will recognize various dignitaries and honored guests, including Rich Platt, who is being posthumously honored as this year’s grand marshal. Platt volunteered on the Travis Fourth of July Parade committee for 10 years.

Following the noon ceremony, the parade will step off at 12:30 p.m. from Showplace Entertainment Center (141 East Service Road).

To accommodate the parade route, the following streets will be closed at the discretion of the NYPD starting at 11:15 a.m.

  • East Service Road, between Showplace Entertainment Center and Glen Street
  • Glen Street, between Melvin Avenue and Cannon Avenue
  • Cannon Avenue, between Glen Street and Victory Boulevard
  • Victory Boulevard, between Cannon Avenue and Melvin Avenue
  • Melvin Avenue, between Glen Street and Victory Boulevard
