17-year-old accused in shooting of man, woman on Staten Island’s Victory Blvd.: NYPD

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 17-year-old boy was arrested and faces charges that include attempted murder in the shooting of a man and woman on busy Victory Boulevard in Castleton Corners.

The teen was apprehended on June 22 for the incident where an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were injured around 6:45 p.m. on Victory Boulevard in Castleton Corners on June 19, according to a spokesman for the NYPD.

The shooting was not a random act of violence and the victims are believed to have been the targets of the attack, a source with knowledge of the investigation told the Advance/SILive.com.

The NYPD does not release the names of defendants who are minors.

The car that police suspect was involved in the shooting was recovered in the rear of a building on Henderson Avenue at the West Brighton Houses, a source said.

The male was shot in both arms and the chest while the female was shot once in the chest, the NYPD spokeswoman said.

The victims were transported to the hospital and both were listed in stable condition. They are expected to recover from their injuries, police said.

The violence prompted a massive NYPD search for the perpetrators, as squad cars canvassed the area for miles and police helicopters hovered overhead.

The 17-year-old also was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the police statement.
