STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – In the not-so-distant future, the forgotten borough may no longer be a borough at all.
On Saturday, Borough President Vito Fossella gave his 2024 State of the Borough address at Monsignor Farrell High School in Oakwood, which concluded with the announcement of a study to explore the feasibility of Staten Island seceding from New York City, an idea that’s been bandied about for decades.
