Kenneth Mitchell, an actor who appeared in the television series “Star Trek: Discovery” and “Captain Marvel” has died, his family announced on his Instagram page on Saturday.
He was 49.
“With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son and dear friend,” the family’s statement read.
According to the post, in 2018 Mitchell was diagnosed with ALS.
The Canadian actor acquired more than 50 film and television credits over the course of his acting career, according to CNN.
His best known roles were the father of Carol Danvers in Marvel’s 2019 “Captain Marvel,” and Klingons Kol, Kol-Sha and Tenavik in “Star Trek: Discovery.”
Mitchell was remembered in the post as a “hope seeker, daydreamer, dream believer.”
In the statement, his family expressed admiration for the bravery Mitchell displayed as he lived with the illness.
Mitchell is survived by his wife, Susan, and their two young children, according to the post.
