Beloved New York sports anchor robbed, pants ripped in scary incident

NBC 4 New York Sports anchor Bruce Beck was robbed of his wallet Wednesday night, according to The New York Post, which cited police. Beck, 66, was not injured.

According to police, a man ripped Beckโ€™s back pocket and took the wallet โ€” and then ran away with another person. The New York Daily News said that Beck was coming back to the studios with his dinner.

The New York Police Department is investigating the incident as a grand larceny.

โ€œWe are grateful that Bruce was not injured and extend our thanks to the NYPD, NBCUniversal Global Security and Tishman Speyer for their quick response,โ€ an NBC 4 spokesperson told The Post.

Beck has been with NBC 4 New York for 25 years. He also hosts โ€œSports Finalโ€ on Sunday night.

โ€œAlthough very shaken, thankfully Bruce was not hurt,โ€ a company memo said, via the Daily News. โ€œThis is a reminder to always be mindful of your surroundings regardless of where you are.โ€
