STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Don’t let the name fool you: They’re not just in Brooklyn.
The popular food-tour social media page “Brooklyn Bitess” (yes, with an extra “s”) features a married couple from Bensonhurst who have taken their passion for food to the next level.
‘BROOKLYN BITESS’ BACKGROUND
Giuseppe and Sabrina Falanga, both 30, have watched their food account — which has more than 150,000 followers — blow up after featuring delicious, mouth-watering items across New York City.
But they aren’t an overnight success. The couple has been steadily grinding for the better part of a decade on Instagram.
“It’s been almost 10 years now I’d say since we really started posting,” Giuseppe said. “We started just taking pictures and a few videos here and there.”
Giuseppe added it wasn’t until after the COVID-19 pandemic that he and his wife started to appear on camera and really see their engagement grow.
“We sort of started to put ourselves in the videos and on the pictures to see how it would go,” Sabrina said. “Now that our faces are out there, we get recognized for doing the food videos at a lot of places.
“It’s just always great meeting people who appreciate the work we do.”
While the Falangas have day jobs in the education field, becoming social media influencers has also become a full-time job.
“It definitely takes a lot of work,” Sabrina said. “If you want to make it, you have to just keep on going.”
“You have to post every day and consistency is key,” Giuseppe added.
STATEN ISLAND FAVORITES
The couple has been traveling more and more to Staten Island recently to sample the borough’s best eats.
“I feel like Staten Island is underrated for the food scene, yet they have so many great restaurants here,” Sabrina said.
