Check your freezer: 245,000 pounds of frozen chicken strips recalled over plastic concerns

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food (USDA) Safety and Inspection Service recently announced that Conagra Brands Inc., is recalling approximately 245,366 pounds of frozen chicken strips that may be contaminated with plastic.

According to the announcement, the frozen chicken strip entrees in question were produced on June 20, July 11, and July 17. The specific item being recalled is as follows:

An 8.9-oz. carton containing a single entree of “Banquet Chicken Strips Meal.” The chicken strips being recalled have a best if used by date of “DEC 11, 2024,” “JAN 01 2025,” or “JAN 07 2025,″ and lot numbers 5009317120, 5009319220, or 5009319820 located on the side of the carton.

These items were distributed to retail stores nationwide and were also sold online. In addition to the lot numbers and date, the container displays the establishment number “EST. P-9.″

The issue first presented itself when a consumer was injured after eating a chicken strip containing plastic, as noted by the USDA.

The USDA urges consumers to discard any such chicken strips or return them to the place of purchase.
