Staten Island was well-represented at the CHSFL’s annual end-of-season awards ceremony as seven players from this borough received awards, including the AA-1 Division Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Lineman of the Year.
In addition, one Islander landed in the league’s prestigious Golden Eleven Award.
St. Peter’s junior running back Jeremiah Williams was tabbed the league’s AA-1 Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 1,228 yards on 169 carries and 18 touchdowns, including 16 on the ground. The two-year varsity player averaged 111.6 yards per game and 7.3 yards per carry. He also led the division in total points with 108.

Moore Catholic’s Isaiah Vanterpool was named the league’s AA-1 Defensive Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound junior recorded a total of 90 tackles overall and 8.5 sacks for the Mavericks, who reached the AA-1 championship game for the third consecutive season.
Moore’s Aqil Meredith-Smith, meanwhile, was selected the league’s AA-1 Lineman of the Year. Meredith-Smith was a force on both sides of the ball as he not only helped paved the way to 2,132 rushing yards and 1,907 yards through the air, but 36 touchdowns overall as a tackle. On the defensive side of the ball, he had 59 total tackle, a pair of sacks and caused four fumbles for the Mavs.
