College basketball: Cold-shooting CSI ousted in ECC semifinals

SPARKILL, N.Y. — The College of Staten Island’s hopes of winning its first East Coast Conference Tournament title were dashed Saturday with a 68-56 loss to Daemen College in the ECC semifinals at St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Daemen advances to the ECC title game for the fourth straight season and will play host St. Thomas this afternoon.

CSI, which closes with a 19-10 overall record, went 13-3 in the ECC regular season, a dramatic improvement over last season that brought CSI’s T.J. Tibbs conference coach of the year honors.
