Commuter alert: Delays reported on subway trains in New York City following derailment

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Major disruptions are reported on subway lines throughout New York City for the Friday morning rush hour following a train derailment on Thursday at a station on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Suspensions on the 1 and 3 lines, reroutes on the 2 line, delays on the A and S lines, station issues on the F and M lines, and no service on the Z line are among the impacts that continue early during the morning commute, according to the MTA.

The Staten Island Railway is running on schedule, according to the MTA.

A train derailed Thursday around 3 p.m. after colliding with another train at low speed, leaving more than 20 people with minor injuries and causing major service disruptions across Manhattan, according to report by the Associated Press.

A 1 train carrying about 300 passengers and an out-of-service train with four workers on board collided near the 96th Street station, according to the Associated Press.
