Ex-Jets first-round pick, former Ohio State star arrested for beating his own mother: reports

Former New York Jets castoff Darron Lee was still in jail on Tuesday, according to numerous reports.

Lee, a 2016 first-round draft pick out of Ohio State, was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic violence, according to Franklin County Sheriffโ€™s records.

The 28-year-old former linebacker is accused of assaulting his own mother, Candice, and Lindsey McGlone, the mother of his two-year-old son. According to Fox News, McGlone reportedly called police in Dublin, Ohio, and said Lee was assaulting Candice, adding that Candice was โ€œlying on her back with Mr. Lee overtop of her with a raised fist.โ€

The report added that Lee allegedly screamed at his mother, pushed her into a wall, threw her to the ground and punched her in the face. She was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for head pain and facial swelling.

McGlone alleged to police that it wasnโ€™t Leeโ€™s first domestic incident. She reportedly stated that Lee had previously gotten on top of her in bed and threatened โ€œthat he would kill her and their childโ€ amid allegations of cheating.

Lee spent three less than stellar seasons in New York after being selected with the 20th pick. He was labeled by many as a โ€œbustโ€, though he recorded four sacks and 241 of his 273 career tackles with Gang Green.

He was later traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he was a member of the 2020 Super Bowl LIV championship team. He most recently appeared in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills in 2020, though he played in just two games.
