A GoFundMe page has been set up for former New York Mets prospect Jaison Vilera, who is battling cancer.

We are reaching out to you today to ask for your support and to help rally behind Jaison Vilera Carrasco, a former minor league baseball player in the New York Mets system. Jaison recently received the devastating news that he was diagnosed with a cancer called choriocarcinoma, which has unfortunately spread to several places in his body.
Despite facing this massive challenge, Jaison has shown that he is a man of incredible strength, faith and determination.
Jaisonโs journey in professional baseball began with promise but it was not an easy journey. when jaison signed with the Mets, he received a modest sum of $10,000. Over the course of seven years, he dedicated himself to the Mets organization and being a professional baseball player. Up until a year ago, minor leaguers only earned several thousand dollars each season. In May 2022, Jaison was released and since then, he has been there by his friendโs sides supporting them in their baseball careers.
Unfortunately life took an unexpected turn a few weeks ago Jaison now finds himself bedridden, fighting for his life against this terrible disease.

In six seasons in the Metsโ farm system, Vilera, 26, has made 68 starts and posted a 4.01 ERA. He last played in 2022 following his release.
