STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Twelve FDNY units and 60 firefighters responded Sunday to a fire at a two-story home in Dongan Hills.
The “all hands” blaze was reported around 3:30 p.m. on the first floor of a private residence at 77 Dongan Hills Ave. between Jefferson Street and North Railroad Avenue, and was placed under control around 4:10 p.m., an FDNY spokesperson said.
Two civilians and one firefighter were injured in the blaze. They were transported in unknown condition to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, the spokesperson said.

A man and woman were seen being evaluated by EMS at the scene. According to a source, they’re the homeowners.
The top and bottom floors of the home could be seen completely blackened and burnt out. Firefighters tossed several charred items out of an upstairs window of the home into the driveway.
“There was thick black smoke pouring out of the house,” said Louann Cerchio, a former Staten Island resident who was in the area visiting family for the holidays. “The firefighters got here quickly, though. I’m glad everyone got out safe.”
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation, the spokesperson said.
