FDNY firefighters control all-hands fire in Mariners Harbor apartment building

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Twelve FDNY units comprising 60 firefighters brought a fire in a six-story Mariners Harbor apartment building under control Tuesday night.

The all-hands blaze was reported just before 6 p.m. in the rear of one of the building’s units, located at 361 Grandview Ave., between Brabant Street and Continental Place, an FDNY spokesperson said.

Several fire trucks could be seen racing down Richmond Avenue towards Forest Avenue in an effort to stave off the fire, preventing its spread to other units.

The fire was brought under control by around 6:20 p.m. and no injuries were reported, the spokesperson said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
