The Christmas spirit may be losing its magic in a once-festive Brooklyn neighborhood.
NBC News recently reported that fewer homes in Dyker Heights participated in the annual holiday lights show.
Thousands have been attracted to the Brooklyn neighborhood to see “Dyker Lights” to see the “over-the-top displays” since it kicked off in 2010.
However, the Wall Street Journal conducted a report that found fewer homes were decorated, compared to past shows.
Some of the findings connect back to the residents who once started the tradition in the 1980s, who have either passed or moved away.
Many of the changes also come from the pandemic, the report states.
The report also found that while new neighbors wanted to join in on the festivities, some didn’t have time, money, or wanted to create the same designs year after year.
