Fire in Staten Island’s Bay Terrace section sparks FDNY response

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A fire at a home in Bay Terrace prompted a large FDNY response Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze was reported on Evergreen Street, according to the FDNY on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Numerous FDNY and NYPD vehicles were on the scene.

According to the battalion chief on the scene, the fire broke out within a first floor apartment, originating from a window air-conditioner unit. From there, the flames extended to the second floor and attic.

The homeowner and tenant suffered minor injuries. Additionally, five firefighters were also injured on the scene.
