Former adult film star committed to California state mental health facility: Report

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Former adult film star Ron Jeremy was committed to a state mental health hospital after being found incompetent to stand trial on rape and other charges, a spokesman for the Los Angeles district attorney said on Tuesday, Reuters is reporting.

Jeremy, 69, had previously been charged with 30 counts of rape and other sexual misconduct based on incidents that allegedly occurred in the Los Angeles area over a 23-year period, the report went on to say.

Jeremy, whose real name is Ron Hyatt, had previously pleaded not guilty, but can be held for up to two years.

Jeremy starred in more than 2,000 adult films beginning in the 1970s.
