STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The United States Postal Service (USPS) will increase shipping costs come the new year.
According to the USPS website, prices will go up starting Jan. 21, 2024.
USPS Ground Advantages prices will increase by 5.4%, with Priority Mail service prices increasing by 5.7%, and Priority Mail express prices increasing by 5.9%, according to the USPS.
The announcement also says price adjustments for Special Services products, including Post Office Box rental fees and some international mail services, could also increase.
โThe Postal Service continues to offer a great value in shipping,โ the USPS said in a statement on its website. โUnlike some other shippers, the Postal Service has upfront pricing and does not add surcharges for residential and regular Saturday delivery, nor fuel.โ
In October, the Advance reported that the cost of a Forever stamp, or mailing a one-ounce letter, will increase by 2 cents in January. That means that a first-class mail forever stamp will cost 68 cents, 2 cents higher than the current price of 66 cents.
Metered one-ounce letters will increase from 63 cents to 64 cents.
Domestic postcards will cost 53 cents, up from 51 cents โ while international postcards will increase to $1.55 from $1.50. International letters (one ounce) will also go up in price to $1.55 from $1.50.
There will be no change to the additional-ounce price, which remains at 24 cents.
