Giants’ Daniel Jones and ‘QB whisperer’ aren’t any good, Eagles legend says

Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is not impressed with Giants signal caller Daniel Jones.

The six-time Pro Bowler shared his thoughts on Jones while discussing Thursday’s 30-12 loss to the 49ers in an episode of his OutKick show, “The Five Spot with Donovan McNabb.” Jones was 22-for-32 for 137 yards and threw a fourth-quarter interception.

“Well, you know what, when you look at their offense — and (Giants head coach Brian) Daboll was supposed to be kind of a QB whisperer so to speak — I really didn’t see that last year,” McNabb said. “I was looking forward to this upcoming season to see changes in Daniel Jones because, to be honest with you, I’m not a big Daniel Jones fan.”

McNabb said he doesn’t believe that Jones has done enough to earn the $160 million contract extension he signed in the offseason.

“I think they gave it to him because they didn’t want to give the big splash money to Saquon Barkley,” he said.

After Jones’ impressive, second half performance in the Giants 31-28 come-from-behind victory in Week 2 against the Cardinals, two-time Pro Bowler Greg Jennings, who won a Super Bowl alongside Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in 2010, said Jones proved he’s a top-eight quarterback.

Jones was 26-of-37 passing for 321 yards with two touchdowns. He added nine carries for 59 yards and one score.

“I loved what I saw,” Jennings said on Fox Sports’ “First Things First.” “He is very accurate. If you stand him upright and you keep his jersey clean, he can make any and every throw. We didn’t get to see that in Week 1. Why? Because he was pressured 16 times. He was under duress the entire game.”
