Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito was all over New Jersey on Tuesday.
He made an appearance at Bubbakoo’s Burritos in Livingston, Coniglios in Morristown and The Hobby Hive in East Hanover. This has been DeVito’s life since becoming the Giants’ starting quarterback in November.
On Wednesday, former NFL MVP Boomer Esiason issued some advice to DeVito on his WFAN morning show: Knock it off and play football!
“The young man is a very nice young man, and seems to have all of his priorities in the right place,” Esiason said, via Audacy. “I would just again advise him, just play football, man. Stop with all this other crap off the field. You haven’t really done much.
“You have the opportunity of a lifetime. Don’t blow it. Don’t blow it because of idiot things like this off the field. Just focus in on being the best player you can be the next three weeks, and make the Giants’ decision difficult.”
DeVito’s reputation took a hit on Monday. That’s when it was brought to light that his agent, Sean Stellato, had allegedly doubled the fee on a Tuesday meet-and-greet event at Coniglio’s in Morristown.
Owner Nino Coniglio announced that the event had been canceled after the Giants’ 24-6 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
“Sorry about that loss today [Giants] fans,” Coniglio wrote in an Instagram post, “but we’re Italian too and don’t like when someone says one thing and does another.”
To repair his image, DeVito decided to add another stop on his tour on Tuesday. He made good on his promise, making a surprise appearance at Coniglio’s.
There he was seen eating pizza with the owner and making old-fashioned sodas. Ultimately, it was a happy ending.
The Giants have three games remaining this season, two of which are against the Eagles, who appear to be in a freefall.
