PATERSON, N.J. — St. Joseph by-the-Sea came up short in the Holiday Hoopfest at Paterson Kennedy HS on Thursday as the Vikings were defeated by Saddle River Day School, 90-76, despite Daniella Cordova’s career-high 22 points.
“Saddle River was a great matchup to have for us because they do a lot of the same things we do and play at a similar pace and style,” said Sea coach Josh Suslak. “They just do it a little better than we do at this point and had an incredible shooting day. It seemed like anything we tried to do to slow them down offensively, they had a counter for and made great decisions as a team. We kept battling with them and kept answering back with buckets but when it’s 14-3 in three pointers made in a game, ultimately it’s difficult to keep up.
