Jets get (mostly) good injury news before Chargers showdown on MNF

The Jets are getting a much-needed boost with the return of a key player to their injury-decimated offensive line just in time for Monday nightโ€™s pivotal matchup against the Chargers.

Rookie guard/center Joe Tippman is set to return from a quad injury after missing last weekendโ€™s win over the Giants. He practiced fully on Saturday and did not have an injury designation on the final practice report of the week. The Jets will also have Laken Tomlinson who was limited in practice after suffering a hamstring injury against the Giants, but was a full participant Saturday and did not have a designation.

That means the Jets will be able to line up several established starters against the Chargers, including Mekhi Becton at left tackle, Tomlinson at left guard, Tippmann could make his pro debut at center or play right guard — our guess is center — and Max Mitchell at right tackle. (Tackle Duane Brown was a full participant Saturday but will remain on injured reserve for at least another week after he was ruled out for a sixth straight game with his hip injury).

But the Jets still have major question marks at right guard, which could lead to other unforeseen changes on the line. Plus, they had some less-than-positive injury news on Saturday with receiver Allen Lazard and backup safety Adrian Amos showing up as last-minute additions to the injury report.

Lazard (knee) and Amos (ankle) were both listed as questionable after being limited in Saturdayโ€™s practice. The fact that they werenโ€™t listed as doubtful is likely an indication that the injuries arenโ€™t serious, but if Lazard canโ€™t go the Jets would be short of experience at receiver on Sunday.

Garrett Wilson is their only established outside receiver other than Lazard.
