Jets initial 53-man roster: Who made it, surprise cuts and what moves are next?

The Jets moved on from nearly 40 players over the last two days, cutting their roster down to 53 men before Tuesdayโ€™s 4 p.m. deadline.

But their work is far from done. Thereโ€™s still time to add potential waiver claims and free agents with 13 days between now and the start of the regular season.

Biggest surprise or no big deal?

OK, weโ€™ll start with the last line of the roster because itโ€™s quite notable: as of this very moment, the Jets do not have a punter on the roster after they released Thomas Morstead. At first glance, thatโ€™s a shocker because heโ€™s the only punter on the roster and heโ€™s performed quite well this preseason. But it quickly became obvious what happened here.
