STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Twelve FDNY units and 60 firefighters responded to a fire reported at a two-story townhouse in Rossville Tuesday evening.
The “all hands” blaze was reported around 5 p.m. at a private residence located at 23 Redwood Loop, and was placed under control around 5:40 p.m., an FDNY spokesperson said.
Firefighters could be seen battling the blaze at the badly charred residence as the upper and lower floors of the home could be seen blackened and burned out. Busted up debris from inside the home lay in front of the residence.
The fire extended to an overhang and into the front area of the attached townhouse at 25 Redwood Loop.
An FDNY spokesman at the scene said two firefighters suffered minor injuries but that nobody was transported to the hospital. He added that the blaze was caused by an accidental fire in a trashcan.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, an FDNY spokesperson said.
