Making $$ in NY: These are the average weekly salaries employers pay around the state

Data on the average weekly pay for workers in New York State was released last month by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, listing the average weekly salary of workers in NY, according to the county where they are employed. The values offer insights into the economic trends in average weekly pay across different counties in NY in the second quarter of 2023.

The data is measured by the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages program, which the Bureau says is reported by employers covering more than 95% of U.S. jobs.

New York County has the highest average weekly pay among the listed counties, with the highest average weekly pay of $2,590, which is substantially higher than other counties in the table.

The data shows Richmond County with an average weekly pay of $1,229, a decrease of 0.6% from the second quarter of 2022. It is ranked 340th in the U.S. based on the percentage change in average weekly pay, suggesting other counties had either positive changes or smaller negative changes during the same period. Kings County (Brooklyn) has the lowest average weekly pay in the city at $1,102.

Oneida County has the highest positive percentage change at 5.9%, indicating a significant increase in average weekly pay compared to the second quarter of 2022, while Saratoga County has the highest negative percentage change at -5.8%, showing a decrease in average weekly pay.
