STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police are investigating a robbery where an assailant allegedly escaped with cash from a South Shore convenience store at a shopping area in Rossville.

The robbery occurred around 11:01 p.m. on Saturday at 585 Veterans Rd. West, near the West Shore Expressway, according to a spokesman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

“The individual entered the location, displayed a black rifle, and demanded money,” the DCPI spokeswoman said.

The perpetrator fled on foot with an undetermined amount of currency, police say.

Veterans Convenience is located at the address provided by police. A Dunkin Donuts, which is in the plaza, also has the same address.

“No injuries were reported,” the DCPI spokeswoman said. “No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.”
