N.J. high school football player, 17, killed early Thanksgiving morning in Manhattan

A 17-year-old football player from Warren Township, New Jersey, was fatally stabbed early Thursday morning in lower Manhattan, according to police and a report by NJ.com, the Advance/SILive.comโ€™s sister site.

Rocco Rodden, a junior offensive lineman at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, was identified as the victim.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of a male stabbed on Lafayette Street, according to a statement from the NYPD. Upon arrival, officers found Rodden and a 19-year-old male with stab wounds to the torso.

Rodden was transported by EMS to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 19-year-old victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

A suspect was charged with manslaughter and assault.
