New 2023 Britney Spears Broadway musical, ‘Once Upon a One More Time’ is incredibly good: Get tickets

There’s a new Broadway musical at the Marquis Theatre in Times Square and it is not to be missed: “Once Upon a One More Time,” featuring the hits of pop icon, Britney Spears.

This joyous jukebox musical, produced by Tony Award winners James L. Nederlander and Hunter Arnold, combines the best of Broadway’s singing and acting talents. Surprisingly, however, it is the exuberant choreography that got me hooked within the first, heart-thumping minutes of this unexpectedly captivating show.

Helmed by internally acclaimed, Drama Desk-nominated Director and Choreographers Keone and Mari Madrid (”Beyond Babel,” “Karate Kid”), “Once Upon a One More TIme” began previews May 13, 2023, and opened on June 22, 2023, according to Broadway World.

THE PLOT OF ONCE UPON A ONE MORE TIME

The main heroine in this storybook musical is Cinderella, played by the gorgeous Briga Heelan. Cinderella runs a book club with Snow White, Little Mermaid and other classic storybook characters, portrayed by the equally beautiful Aisha Jackson, MiMi Scardulla, Amy Hillner Larsen, Tess Soltau, Belinda Allyn and Liv Battista.

The ladies read the same book — “Grimm’s Fairy Tales” — over and over because they believe it’s the only book ever written. That is, until their fairy godmother introduces “The Feminine Mystique” for their reading pleasure and the ladies’ desire to break free of the chains that bind them takes over.

The storyline is both delightful and energetic as the ladies grow tired of glass slippers, losing their voices, and infidelity of their “Prince Charmings” and strike out to fulfill their feminist potential.
