NFL Draft 2024 order: Where did Giants wind up after blasting Eagles to end terrible season?

The Giants concluded their 2023 season Sunday against the Eagles.

They got a rare win over Philadelphia — 27-10 — to finish 6-11.

After all the dust settled on Sunday’s action, the Giants wound up sixth in the 2024 NFL Draft order.

The Giants entered Sunday fifth in the draft order — with the possibility of rising as high as No. 2 or falling as low as No. 8.

As it turned out, the Giants couldn’t have moved up past fifth, even if they lost Sunday. That’s because New England, Arizona, and Washington all lost. But the Chargers also lost — so they moved past the Giants, taking over the No. 5 spot.

All this matters, of course, because general manager Joe Schoen this spring could use a premium draft pick on a quarterback to replace Daniel Jones, sooner rather than later.

The top two quarterbacks this year are Caleb Williams and Drake Maye. Obviously, the higher the Giants wound up, the better chance they’d have at getting one of those two players.

The No. 1 overall pick was already finalized entering Sunday. It’s going to the Bears, via the Panthers. Now, the question becomes: Will the Bears replace Justin Fields with Williams? Or will Chicago trade out of that pick?

Giants fans were paying close attention to the second, third, and fourth teams in the draft order — all of whom entered Sunday at 4-12. Washington was second, New England third, and Arizona fourth. The 5-11 Chargers were sixth, the 5-11 Titans were seventh, and the 6-10 Jets were eighth.

As for how those teams did Sunday, these were the results from the early Sunday afternoon window of games: The Jets beat the Patriots and the Titans beat the Jaguars.

And these were the results from the late afternoon window: The Commanders lost to Dallas, the Cardinals lost to Seattle, and the Chargers lost to Kansas City, so they took over at No. 5.
