STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — According to an alert from Notify NYC, New Yorkers whose homes or businesses were damaged by flood waters on Sept. 29 can now apply for low-interest disaster loans.
Eligible New York City residents and businesses in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island are eligible.
The loans would be distributed to eligible residents by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the alert noted.
According to the alert, the application deadline is Feb. 2 for physical damage and Sept. 4, 2024 for economic injury.
The heavy rain dramatically impacted New York City toward the end of September, the Advance/SILive.com previously reported. The resulting flooding caused trains to halt, roads to close and also impacted bridges.
On Staten Island, the rainstorm caused vehicles to become immersed in water up to at least the tops of their tires when rising stormwater transformed roads into rivers due to flooding.
For more information and to apply, New Yorkers are encouraged to visit the website for the New York City Office of Management.
