NY Lottery: Third-prize Powerball ticket worth $50,000 sold on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Luck was certainly on the side of players who won a third-prize Powerball ticket worth $50,000, as reported by lottery officials.

The New York Lottery announced that five third prize-winning tickets were sold for the Dec. 23 Powerball drawing — and one ticket was sold on Staten Island.

The winning ticket on Staten Island was purchased at Victory Convenience LLC, located at 1720 Victory Blvd., in Castleton Corners.

The other winning tickets, also worth $50,000, were sold in Forest Hills, Jackson Heights, Liberty and Wayland.

Winning numbers for the Dec. 23 Powerball drawing are white balls 9, 14, 17, 18, and 52 and red Powerball 6

The winning numbers for the Powerball game are drawn from a field of one to 69. The Powerball number is drawn from a separate field of one to 26. In order to win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball number.

Powerball tickets can be purchased at any New York Lottery retailer for $2, seven days a week. The deadline for purchasing a ticket is 10 p.m. on draw nights.

Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m., and the New York Lottery urges players to buy tickets early to avoid last-minute lines.

Players can securely check their tickets on the New York Lottery app.
