STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A New York resident has claimed a $1 million top prize in the New York Lottery’s Cashword Bonus scratch-off game.
Robert Fehr, of Angola, received a single lump sum payment of $475,230 after required withholdings, the New York Lottery has announced.
The winning ticket was purchased at Corner Market, in Derby, New York, about 25 miles south of Buffalo.
At the time of publication, there are currently three top Cashword Bonus $1 million tickets remaining, according to lottery officials.
New York scratch-off games generated $4,406,338,198 in total sales during fiscal year 2022-2023, the New York Lottery reported.
Other New Yorkers have also been lucky in recent months.
A $3 million scratch-off ticket was claimed in Westchester County, one of three top prizes in the Triple Jackpot 777, on Feb. 3, according to the New York Lottery.
Andrea Garvey, 54, purchased the ticket at Memorial Stationery on E Sandford Boulevard in her hometown of Mount Vernon.
And, in December 2023, Wayne Murray, of Brooklyn, claimed a $10 million top prize on the New York Lottery’s 200X scratch-off game after claiming another $10 million top prize on the Lottery’s Black Titanium ticket in 2022, according to New York Lottery officials.
HOW TO CHECK SCRATCH-OFF DRAWINGS ONLINE
Players may check the status of any New York Lottery scratch-off by downloading the Game Report at nylottery.ny.gov.
The drawing is broadcast on the Powerball website, as well as on TV stations across the country.
Many of the TV stations that broadcast the Powerball drawing will also live stream them on their websites, including New York’s WABC-7.
Powerball also has a YouTube channel on which it uploads the drawing after it airs, but the drawing itself will not be live there.
