NY weather: Be prepared for lake effect snow in New York Thursday evening

A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Thursday at 7:10 p.m. for lake effect snow until 8 p.m. for Oneida, Onondaga and Madison counties.

“At 7:10 p.m., a lake effect snow band was over Brewerton, or 10 miles northeast of Baldwinsville moving east at 35 MPH,” says the weather service.

The warning is for Clay, Rome, Cicero, Oneida, Lee, Verona, Vienna, Sherrill, Camden and Vernon. This includes the following highway exits: interstate 90 near 33. New York Interstate 81 between 30 and 31.

According to the weather service, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
