NY weather: Weather alert issued for lake effect snow in New York Saturday evening

The National Weather Service issued a report at 7:49 p.m. on Saturday for lake effect snow until 8:30 p.m. for Fulton, Montgomery and Schenectady counties.

“At 7:48 p.m., a lake effect snow band was over Fonda moving east at 40 MPH,” states the weather service.

This includes the following highways: interstate 88 near exit 25. Interstate 90 between exits 25a and 29. Interstate 890 between exits 1a and 4c.

According to the weather service, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
