NY weather: Weather alert issued for lake effect snow in New York Saturday night

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 8:43 p.m. on Saturday for lake effect snow until 9:30 p.m. for Montgomery, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties.

“At 8:42 p.m., a lake effect snow band was over East Glenville, or over Scotia moving east at 35 MPH,” according to the weather service.

This includes the following highways: interstate 890 between exits 1a and 1b. Interstate 87 between exits 8A and 10.

According to the weather service, “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination.”
