STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 34-year-old man was stabbed in Heartland Village Friday afternoon, according to a spokesman for the NYPD.
The incident unfolded at Nome Plaza on Nome Avenue at approximately 12:52 p.m., the spokesman said. At the scene, crime tape blocked off Nomeโs Best, a convenience store, and Island Kitchen Chinese Restaurant; Nomeโs Best was seen with a broken front window.
The NYPD spokesman reports that the man was stabbed once in the torso with an unknown object and was taken by EMS responders to Staten Island University Hospital North in stable condition.

The perpetrator fled on Nome Avenue by foot and is described as a male dressed in all-black, according to the NYPD.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
