A 74-year-old kayaker went missing in the Raritan Bay off Keyport on Monday evening and a search involving the U.S. Coast Guard remains ongoing Tuesday morning.
Zhenjiang Ding’s kayak and personal belongings were found near Cedar Street Park in Keyport Harbor at about 6:30 p.m., the Coast Guard said in a statement. Keyport police said the discovery was made near Walnut Street and that the kayaker had been fishing.
The search was continuing at 9:15 a.m., the Coast Guard said.
Ding is described as 5-foot-6-inches tall and approximately 140 to 160 pounds. A photo released by the Coast Guard shows he has brown hair and brown eyes.

“While the Coast Guard continues the search tonight, our teams will rejoin them tomorrow and remain vigilant,” Keyport police said shortly before 1 a.m. “Our hearts and thoughts are with this family until their beloved member is located.”
Keyport police couldn’t be reached for additional information before 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Coast Guard at 718-354-4037.
State Police, the New York Police Department and the New York Fire Department are also looking for Ding.
