STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — An NYPD officer suffered minor injuries Wednesday afternoon when responding to an assault in progress, according to a spokesman for the NYPD.
A call for an assault in progress at 98 Broad St., in Stapleton Heights, came in at around 2:22 p.m., the spokesman said.
While trying to take an individual into custody, the officer was struck in the face, resulting in minor injuries, according to the NYPD spokesman. As a result, the officer was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition.
According to the NYPD, three individuals were taken into custody. The charges are unknown at this time.
