NYPL Open House Week starts Monday: Check out these events on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The New York Public Library (NYPL) Open House Week is back to remind residents of all the local library has to offer.

NYPL locations across the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island are hosting Open House Week from Monday, Oct. 23, until Sunday, Oct. 29. During this time, visitors can snag some free NYPL goodies, get a library card and enjoy free events and programs for all ages.

The NYPL provides free access to its 6 million circulating collection items. It also offers expert business and career assistance, technology classes, multilingual resources, homework help, activities for kids and teens, and much more!

Here are some of the NYPL events happening on Staten Island this week.

Tuesday

Open House Week: Halloween Puppets / Oct. 24, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Enjoy this free puppet-making event at the Dongan Hills branch. These puppets arenโ€™t alive — or are they? For ages 5-12.

Wednesday

Mariners Harbor Community Resource Fair / Oct. 25, 3 to 5 p.m.

The Mariners Harbor branch will host a Community Resource Fair. Stop by the library to meet with local organizations.

Teen Center Open House / Oct. 25, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Join the West New Brighton library branch for a special Open House Week showcase, where you can explore the newly opened Teen Center. You can take a tour of the space, experiment with the 3D printer, test out Fuji Instax cameras and 3D pens, visit stations for creative writing and more. You can also enjoy Nintendo Switch gaming or simply relax with a laptop. Light refreshments will be available.
