The holidays are almost here, and there is nothing better than curling up on the couch and watching your favorite festive classic.
But if you’re wondering what to watch, PlayStar surveyed audiences in the U.S. to see what people are watching in each state and across the U.S. — so next time you’re wondering which holiday movie to watch, you have a go-to guide.
New York’s top Christmas movie is “Home Alone.”
According to the survey, the most popular Christmas movie (out of 100 Christmas movies) in the U.S. — and in eight other states — was “Die Hard.”
This may surprise some people, who debate whether or not Die Hard is a Christmas movie or a holiday movie that just so happens to take place during Christmas.
Surprisingly, some other popular holiday movies are ones you could also argue aren’t Christmas movies, but movies that happen during Christmas time. Like, “Edward Scissorhands” is the top holiday movie in four states (which makes it tied with a Christmas classic, “Home Alone”), and “Gremlins” is the top holiday movie in two states.
Other most popular holiday movies include:
- “Elf” (The top movie in three states)
- “Christmas with the Kranks” (The top movie in three states)
- “White Christmas” (The top movie in three states)
- “Jingle All the Way” (The top movie in two states)
- “The Holiday” (The top movie in two states)
- “Gremlins” (The top movie in two states)
