STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Neighbors of the P.A.I.N. Station in Port Richmond were “delighted” to learn recently that the alleged black market smoke shop also said to be operating in illegal narcotics has been closed permanently, according to civic leaders and law enforcement officials.
A joint-government effort that’s cracked down on shops operating boroughwide in contraband, and in some cases illegal drugs, and oversaw the order to vacate 207 Port Richmond Ave., includes the Richmond County District Attorney’s office, NYC Sheriff, NYPD Department of Buildings and community advocates.
District Attorney Michael E. McMahon this week issued a statement promising borough residents that “this work will continue in the weeks and months to come.”
“We encourage anyone with information regarding stores that are selling illegal cannabis or THC products, untaxed cigarettes, flavored vapes, or any other illegal substances to inform our office immediately,’’ McMahon said.
Amid rumors of the Port Richmond storefront, which, according to court documents, operated under the LLC “Mr. P.A.I.N.,” possibly dealing in illegal substances at an intersection already thought to be buzzing with drug activity, members of a community safety group previously told the Advance/SILive.com they took action.
“We monitored the situation and forwarded to the appropriate agencies,” said leaders of the Port Richmond North Shore Alliance.
Law enforcement officials issued an order to vacate the first floor of 207 Port Richmond Ave. in Port Richmond, where months prior a storefront alleged to be selling illegal drugs was raided.
The city has since filed a lawsuit against the owners of the mixed commercial and residential property in state Supreme Court, St. George.
The deed owners for the building are listed as Tae Suk Park, 71, and Susan Park, 70, of Rossville.
Susan Park declined to comment on the case, saying her husband was out of town at the time. The couple lives in a single family…
