Pablo Guzman, longtime New York reporter for CBS, has died

NEW YORK — Pablo Guzman, a veteran reporter for CBS New York who was beloved by his colleagues, has died, according to the TV network.

The longtime New York City-based media member died Sunday at the age of 73, CBS said in a report Monday.

“CBS New York is mourning the loss of Pablo Guzman, a legendary voice in New York journalism, and a friend and colleague to many of us,” read the first sentence of the story announcing Guzman’s death.

Guzman graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and attended the State University of New York at Old Westbury, according to the report.

He covered crime, politics and “his beloved” New York Yankees, most recently for CBS New York (WCBS-TV), where he had worked since 1995, the report said.

In addition to stints at WNEW-TV Channel 5 from 1984 to 1992 and WNBC-TV from 1992 to 1995, Guzman wrote for various publications, such as the Village Voice, Billboard, Rolling Stone and the New York Daily News, CBS reported.
