Patti LaBelle to headline at the St. George Theatre Red Carpet Gala & Benefit Concert March 23; Flowers by Bernard receives Georgie Award

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The stage will come alive with the electrifying sounds of Patti LaBelle, the riveting rhythm and blues singer and actress known to the world as the “Godmother of Soul” when the St. George Theatre celebrates its 94th anniversary during a glamorous red carpet gala and benefit concert.

The musical icon will take stage center during the evening, which will glisten with shimmer and sparkle on Saturday, March 23 at 8 p.m.

Prior to the stellar production, during a special onstage tribute, the Georgie Award will be presented to the family behind Flowers by Bernard, a Dongan Hills stronghold that has been serving the community of Staten Island for some 50 years.

For more than 60 years, LaBelle’s resplendent voice has left an indelible mark all over the world.

The Philadelphia-born entertainer captured her first hit in 1962 as lead singer of The Bluebelles and went on to receive worldwide acclaim with the trailblazing and genre-bending trio, Labelle.
